Along the way: boats and tugs passing through the canal, fishermen on the rocks, the occasional seal or dolphin, a splash pad for the kids, a toddler playground tucked in the woods, and a giant inflatable bounce ball for older kids. Pack a picnic and make a day of it. Our trailhead video shows how easy it is to reach the trail from the shop.

About

The Ballantyne family

Jim and Pam Ballantyne started in the sports business in 1986, and Jim ran windsurfing schools and shops from Austria's ski slopes to Florida and the Pacific Northwest. Along the way he met Pam, who handles all aspects of the business, specializes in women's gear and athletic apparel, and is our chief lady cyclist. She leads the charge to ride, explore and chart out new trails.

The family left Hood River, OR for Boston in 1998, and Sailworld Cape Cod opened in July 2000. In the summer of 2019 we changed the name to Buzzards Bay Bikes to better suit the direction our store is headed.

Kaylen Ballantyne now owns and runs the shop as head mechanic, and heads up our windsurfing and SUP instruction. He's an enduro mountain biking champion, winning both the 2016 Box East Coast Showdown and the 2016 Vittoria ESC Enduro Series.
